    3 Days Hike in the Romanian Alps

    Overview

    “From the King’s Castle to the Queen’s Heart” – our hiking tour near Bucharest includes historical visits, cultural experiences and a great +1,500m ascension on Bucegi Mountains. We are linking two historical castles – Peles (Sinaia) and Bran – across the most popular mountain in Romania – Bucegi. This experience is dedicated to experienced hikers, but it can be customized for average mountain lovers.

    Detailed itinerary

    Individual arrival to Bucharest and transfer to Sinaia resort (130 km car ride)

    Our first day is in Bucharest. We will visit the capital, plan our trip and then transfer to Sinaia – the most appreciated winter resort and the starting point for our hiking adventure. In Sinaia we will visit the “King’s castle” – Peles. It’s the only luxurious castle in Romania, the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family. Time to know the Romanian history, to plan the next two days hiking route and to spend the evening in a nice cosy hotel.

    Optional: transfer from Bucharest.

    Meals: dinner

    We start our hiking adventure early in the morning in Sinaia (600m altitude). We can hike from the centre of the city, or we can take the cable car directly to 2,000m altitude, almost on top of the mountain. From here we hiking to Babele chalet, then we reach Omu Peak (2,504m altitude – the highest point) for lunch and for admiring the landscape around us. After lunch, we will start a long descend to Bran village. Depending on our arrival we will organize dinner at a restaurant or in our hotel.

    After breakfast we will visit the village of Bran and the main attraction – Bran Castle. Also known as “Dracula Castle”, the former military fortress is a historical place dedicated to our Queen Maria, who organize the castle as her summer mountain residence. Her heart was deposited for a while near the castle, a romantic story showing her love for this place.

    After our visit we will return to Bucharest for ending a great adventure in the mountains.
